POSITION SUMMARY:
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), a national organization representing 3,300 local health departments, has one (1) opening for Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health Intern.
This position will provide an opportunity to support the role of local public health departments (LHDs) to support MCAH efforts. NACCHO is a primary source of knowledge and research for public health practitioners on the local level, many of whom benefit from NACCHO’s training and technical assistance. The Infant and Toddler Nutrition Intern contribute to the advancement of local public health practice by performing a range of responsibilities related to NACCHO’s Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health program, specifically in the areas of Infant and Toddler Nutrition and Breastfeeding. For local health departments (LHDs) and their staff, NACCHO is the premier source of learning, knowledge and future-oriented research for local public health professionals, and provides resources, education, ideas and advocacy to enhance the voice and visibility of the critical role that LHDs play in keeping our communities healthy and safe.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Masters degree candidates in Public Health, or other related graduate program (e.g., social work, education) with an interest in public health are eligible to apply.
WORK HOURS:
Internship hours are negotiable and flexible. Typically, most hours are served between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, for 12-15 hours per week, and with no more than 150 hours served total. This internship is fully remote. The intern must use a personal laptop or computer and have sufficient internet access.
SALARY:
The internship is unpaid. The intern can receive academic credit based on the requirements and approval of their academic institution. Should academic credit be received, NACCHO will work with the intern’s advisor or another relevant contact to facilitate the receipt of credit. It is anticipated that this internship will run from January to July 2026.
